This Sunday is International Tongue Twister Day! So, for this week’s writing challenge, we dare you to either…
Invent your own tongue twister. It’s all in the alliteration, so pick a letter and start scribbling down ideas of all the words that start with that letter, then see how you can combine similar sounds so they trip up your tongue and teeth! Here’s some advice from author Bruce Lansky to get your started.
Or: take an existing tongue twister and write a story about the characters in it. Why is that woodchuck chucking wood? Who’s selling seashells down by the seashore? Why did Peter Piper pick a peck of pickled peppers, and what’s he doing with them next? Here’s a list of famous tongue twisters to choose from.
As always, we’d love to read whatever you come up with, so send us your tongue twisters by email, Twitter or Facebook.
