Dare to Write: What I Saw in the Woods

autumnal-forestWhatever your plans for the half-term holiday, chances are you’ll be seeing some of the evidence that Autumn is well underway. And there’s nowhere these seasonal changes are more obvious than when walking in the woods, so that’s our setting for this week’s writing challenge.

Think about what you’ll tell your friends about your half-term when you go back, then start a story with this sentence:

“I knew no-one would believe me when I told them what I saw in the woods…”

If you’re not sure where to start, think about and maybe even make a list of all the things you might see, smell and hear while walking in the woods. What’s the weather like? What colours are the leaves, and the sky? What time of day is it? And who (or what) might you see between the branches?

We’d love to see what you come up with: email in your stories or share them via Facebook or Twitter.
